JLU Vice President Zhao Hongwei Led a Delegation to Visit Ukrainian Universities

From October 21st to 25th, 2019, Prof. Zhao Hongwei, Vice President of Jilin University was invited to led a delegation to attend the 2019 Joint Conference & Board Meeting of Jilin University Overseas Confucius Institutes, which was hosted by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Taking this opportunity, the delegation also visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ukraine, the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU).

On October 21st, the delegation visited the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Ukraine. Du Wei, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Ukraine, met the delegation. He expressed appreciation for Jilin University’s efforts in promoting China-Ukraine collaborations in higher education, and proposed that the two sides expand cooperation based on equality and mutual benefits, contributing to the economic and social development of both China and Ukraine.


On the morning of October 23rd, the delegation visited the NASU. Academician Anatoly Zagorodny, Vice President of the NASU and Honorary Professor of Jilin University, Prof. Anatolii Myronchuk, Director of International Cooperation Agency and representatives from NASU research institutes met the delegation. The two sides reviewed the previous consensus reached at the 2019 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research and Application, and discussed on the details of scientific research collaborations and co-supervision programs for Ph.D. candidates.

On the afternoon of October 23rd , the delegation visited the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and had a working meeting with Vice-Rector (International Relations) Petro Bekh,Vice-Rector (Science Work) Victor Martynyuk and professors from different colleges. Both parties discussed on the possibilities of dual degree programs, short-term and long-term student exchange programs, academic seminars, etc.
